Small Packages, Beautiful Majesty: Advent Day 18: 2021, Dec. 15th.

Let me start by saying, yesterday was not a majestuc day for blogging.  I had the wrong focus text, so a blog for the  17th day of advent was never materialized,  which is OK, because unmajestic moments can actually prove to be rather majestic.  Sounds strange I know but bear with me, and if you haven’t yet guessed it, the word of the day is majestic.

When I read Psalm 8 this morning, our text for the day, the first thing that came to my mind was the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis).   If you have have a chance to see them, go out of your way to do it.  It is as if God takes a paint brush loaded with neon green and orange paint and squiggles a streak of bold color accross the dark sky.  This is MAJESTIC.  Big and dynamic you stand in awe of the immense power and radiance of the earth to produce such an art show.

But are all majestic moments BIG?  This is the question I asked myself.  Are all majestic moments bold OR can they be tiny little every day things we may not even notice?  Maybe blade of grass?

A blade of grass how it must fight when it is continually attacked by the weather; snow,  ice, rain, and scorching sun.  Then throw in lawn mowers and people tomping on it, not to mention all kinds of animals, how remarkably resilient that tiny blade of grass is.  Rather majestic wouldn’t you say?

Now if that is just one blade of grass, what happens when their is a multitude. OR what happens when the small package is a tiny baby wrapped in swaddling clothes?  Does his small existence get missed or dismissed because of his size?  Does this keep him from being the best MAJESTIC of all? Of course not. In fact his size and his vulnerability makes him the exact majesty we all need.

Prayer of the Day. Oh Lord, truly  how majestic is your name in all the earth that you would consider not only that blade of grass and me, but also the plan of salvation for all.  Amen
