There is a song that invites us to stand in prayer when we need it.
They lyrics invite, “It’s me. It’s me oh Lord, standing in the need of prayer.”
But there is a condition to this song that places a large burden upon us. We get to decided when and if we need it.
What a thought. We get to dedecide when we need relationship with God? Or is it good to consider that our whole life is about standing in prayer, now, each second?
That is what I feel like right now as I listen to music that sings to my soul. I recognize that I am standing, dwelling in prayer simply because everything around me is something to be thankful for, which makes makes it sacre; The trees and the birds chirping, the cold blistering that snaps the world awake with it frigedness not allowing any of us to take heat for granted, the house in which I live, music, food, light, dark.
All of it. We stand in it. We dwell in it, and we do a great job taking advantage of it. Fighting about it, placing value over it, and then demanding that some of it has more worth than other parts of it. Treating it as a scares commodity rather than gift of the creator.
So today I ask simply, stand in prayer in your “now” moments. From the kitchen to the backyard, from your home to your job. Stand in the sacred gift that surrounds you. Let it be the balm that heals you from the rush of a world that would rather you too be seen as a possesion of worth dignifing you only if you have the right title, skin, gender, or job.
Creator: Bless the ones who feel little today. Help them see that they have worth because you made it so. You created them. Bless the ones who feel strong today and let them not forget to be humble before you and others so pride does not over take them. Bless the ones who know hunger so that their tummies may be treated with nurishment. Bless the ones who have nurishment so their minds do not turn to gluttony. Bless those who are thirsty providing them a quenching drink of that which will restore their soul and bless those who have plenty to drink but yet have souls hardend from you. Bring healthy healing relationships to all.
In the name of Jesus the savior, from a loving creator, dwelling with the Spirit. Amen.
